The startup operation on Dell PC is controlled with the help of BIOS. You can set the password to lock the BIOS and the system won’t start the bootstrap process unless an appropriate password is entered.
This feature is used to prevent the access from unauthorized users until you don’t forget the credentials.
If you know the password but doesn’t want any access restrictions then you can perform the changes in the system setup. But, if you forget the password then you need to enter the backdoor code to bypass the lock or take support from Dell.
If you know the password
Turn on your laptop.
Press “F2″ to access the system setup screen.
If you have already set the password for supervisor then enter the password and then press “Enter”
You can Scroll down and select “System Security” using cursor keys and then press “Enter” key.
You can highlight “Password Status” and then press “+” or “-“ to toggle the option unlocked.
You can select the “System Password” and then press “Enter” twice to remove the password.
In case of supervisor setup then select “Setup Password” and then press “Enter” key.
Press Esc and then press “Y” to save the changes and exit the BIOS.
